America's
largest portrait society presents four exciting days in New
York City, the art capital of the world. A distinguished faculty
of some of the nation's foremost portrait artists demonstrate
their techniques and share their secrets of success in today's
fast-growing field of professional portrait painting.
Our daily study sessions will be held in The Grace Rainey
Rogers Auditorium at The Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Metropolitan
is of course one of the world's greatest museums, featuring
an unparalleled collection of portraiture, including Titian,
Velazquez, Hals, Rembrandt, Van Dyck, Gainsborough, Reynolds,
Lawrence, Sargent, Eakins, Chase and countless others.

Marketing sessions and the major
portrait agencies, along with the international portrait competition
finalists will be presented in the Huntington Room at the
nearby National Academy of Design. Plans include tours of
the Sorolla Collection at the Hispanic Society of America
and the Frick Museum. Our awards banquet on Saturday night
will be at the glamorous New York Athletic Club dining room,
high above Manhattan's Central Park. These will be four unforgettable
days -- days that could change your life forever!
The American Society of Portrait Artists Foundation is a not-for-profit
organization directed by a board of artists, offering a nationwide
program of seminars and workshops. The Foundation annually
presents scholarships to qualified students at major American
art schools and academics and the Society publishes a full-color
quarterly magazine The Portrait Signature.
