How the Awards Program is Conducted:

All Festival participants are eligible to submit slides of their portrait work. Two rounds of judging and selection are involved. Round 1 is conducted by the Selection Committee of the Advisory Board of The American Society of Portrait Artists. The Selection Committee's choices are then presented to the full Advisory Board-all portrait artists of distinguished national reputation. The decision of the Board is final. The award-winning paintings will be displayed in New York during the 2000 Portrait Arts Festival in the Huntington Room of the National Academy of Design and School of Fine Arts. The awards and cash prizes will be presented during the Awards Dinner at the New York Athletic Club on Saturday, June 3, 2000.
