"I would like to say how organized and professional
the whole event was. I was very impressed, especially with the setup of
the demos, and the way in which the speakers tried to anwser all questions
with as much honesty and information as possible."
Leon Loard was honored as the Founder of ASOPA
at the awards presentation dinner at the New York Athletic Club, at which
we were well fed on filet mignon and treated to a musical program by Judith
Panhill and Steven Raiford, and Michael Del Priore passed the Chairman's
gavel to Richard Whitney.
Richard Schmid was awarded the prestigious John Singer Sargent Medal, and
in his acceptance speech put everything into perspective most eloquently
with this message:
"Remember that you are an artist first, and a portrait painter second. Be
true to yourselves, and let each painting you do be an expression of gratitude
for the privilege of being an artist."
